Not everyone has the time it takes to become
a certified diver which in a lot of cases stops them from ever
getting their openwater licence.
What most people don't realise is that
they can actually split up their course and do it over a period
of time that suits them.
The basic anatomy of an openwater course
is:
- 2 days pool and theory
- 4 ocean dives over 2 days
It must be done in this order and upon
completion of your "pool and theory" you will receive
paperwork from your dive school showing that you have completed
that section of your course.
Now lets say that you only have the weekends
free. Obviously 4 days doesn't go into 2 days very well, so what
you can do is split it up over two weekends. In fact, they don't
even have to be two consecutive weekends or with the same dive
school or even within the same country as both PADI and SSI are
internationally recognised.
So you have finished your "pool and
theory" and have decided to come to Cairns. All you need
is the paperwork from your dive school to say that you have finished
your "pool and theory" plus a current dive
medical to Australian standard A.S.4005-1 (this can be arranged
in Cairns) and any of the dive schools on our site can complete
your open water training with the required 4 ocean dives.
That is a referral in a nutshell.
Note:
If it has been a while since you have done
your "pool and theory" and you feel as though you have
forgotten most of what you have learnt, we would suggest that
you get a refresher prior to coming to Cairns as the 4 ocean
dives are your "pool and theory" in practice.
